Skin Science Institute
Janytree’s corporate Skin Science Institute was established in 2009, coinciding with the company’s founding. Through the development of new biomaterials and differentiated formulation technologies, we have introduced high-performance products to the global beauty market, achieving continuous growth. We challenge ourselves with new innovative technologies to realize our customers’ healthy beauty through derma cosmetics based on skin science and skin delivery technology.
Innovative Technology
Advanced technologies and applications for skin absorption and cell activation, Bio-Peptone® developed through our unique fermentation and extraction technologies, formulation technology that enhances the skin absorption rate of active ingredients based on the principles of skin barrier mechanisms, and research into safe natural ingredients that can be used even on weakened, sensitive skin. These are applied to various types of products in the skincare, haircare, and bodycare fields.

Fermentation-Based Bioconversion Technology
The technology of bioconverting active ingredients using beneficial microorganisms is a highly promising technology that is gaining significant attention in both the pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields. The greatest advantage of fermentation-based bioconversion technology is that active ingredients are activated by conversion enzymes produced as beneficial microorganisms grow, and are then low-molecularized by the action of decomposition enzymes, thereby increasing skin absorption. Furthermore, ingredients that have undergone the fermentation process show reduced skin irritants and allergens, further enhancing skin safety. Janytree’s fermentation process is a unique and differentiated proprietary fermentation technology. It involves stopping anaerobic liquid fermentation within $48$ hours, precisely when beneficial microorganisms are at their peak advantage, to maximize the action of conversion and decomposition enzymes and block the secretion of toxic substances caused by microbial death. This is an innovative technology. Active ingredients created by Janytree’s proprietary fermentation method are applied to all Janytree products, enabling the development of products with differentiated efficacy.

Nano Liposome Technology
No matter how effective an ingredient is, it cannot show its effects if it does not easily penetrate the skin. Therefore, active ingredients must be able to pass through the intercellular spaces of the stratum corneum and penetrate deep into the skin. Liposomes are a representative technology for skin absorption. They have a lipid bilayer structure most similar to the skin’s cell membrane, allowing them to absorb not only hydrophilic but also lipophilic ingredients into the skin. Furthermore, significant efforts are being made to nano-size active ingredients to facilitate their easy passage through the skin’s intercellular spaces. The liposome technology adopted by Janytree has an average nano-size of approximately $250 ext{nm}$. This technology is applied not only at the raw material stage but also during the cosmetic manufacturing process, resulting in excellent affinity for skin intercellular spaces and superior skin penetration.

Transdermal Drug Delivery System (TDDS)
Microneedles are cylindrical devices equipped with fine, delicate needles thinner than hair, which create tiny channels in the skin or scalp through massage. Through these channels, drugs with large molecular weights, or those difficult to ionize or polarize, can be effectively penetrated into the skin or scalp, and drug concentration can be significantly increased. Furthermore, because microneedles create micro-channels in the scalp and undergo a natural wound healing process, they inherently activate hair follicles and induce cell regeneration. In 2009, Janytree directly established the production base for microneedles (drug absorption stimulators) corresponding to medical device Class 2, and obtained product manufacturing permits, manufacturing licenses, and KGMP certification from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS). Microneedles produced under certified quality control have been used by experts in university hospitals and clinics for skin and scalp improvement. Based on its technological superiority in microneedles, Janytree has developed high-performance ampoules for use with microneedles.

Bio-Peptone®
Bio-Peptone® was inspired by the culture medium components used for skin cell cultivation. It is a natural material developed through Janytree’s unique fermentation and extraction technologies, created by fermenting protein obtained from peas with lactic acid bacteria to produce a low-molecular pea peptide ferment. It is safe against light and heat, has a very small molecular weight, allowing for rapid skin absorption, and exhibits excellent efficacy in collagen synthesis, moisturizing, antioxidant effects, photoaging inhibition, and skin brightening. It is listed in the International Cosmetic Ingredient Dictionary (ICID) and applied to various products of our company.
